Professional Counselor Associate
I am a professional counselor associate that works with teens and adults.
As a therapist, I am passionate about holistic, empowering, strengths-based approaches when working with clients. It is my belief that clients are experts on their lives and their contexts, bringing inherent strengths and insights to the counseling room. My goal is to be a supportive, nonjudgmental presence in each client's individual process. I see teens and adults who are seeking support for a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, academics, religious trauma and deconstruction, and general navigation of life's changes and transitions.
My therapy work varies in technique, modality, and is primarily person-centered, trauma-informed, and social justice-oriented. I integrate therapies that focus on systems, narratives, liberation, and the existential components of our life’s journey. I recognize that our thoughts, feelings, actions, and lived experiences are unique to us, while also existing within the context of our environments, systems, and world. I really enjoy working with individuals around their life’s stories and the meaning made from those stories.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. I took courses on trauma, personality development, and social dynamics that solidified a desire to support others through their lives, and later earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the same institution.
